Movie Review-Alice Through The Looking Glass

Last night I got invited to go to the movies with a friend. I got the opportunity to see “Alice Through The Looking Glass.” It was a really cute movie. I was a little nervous because it was a sequel to a great movie. I never liked the old Disney cartoon, “Alice in Wonderland”, but I really like Tim Burton’s version. “Alice Through The Looking Glass” did not disappoint.

I loved in the beginning how it talked about what Alice had done with her life, then when she gets to Wonderland it is about what had happened in the past. I enjoyed learning more about Hatter and his history as well as the Queen of Hearts and why she is the way she is.

My favorite part in the movie was when Alice tells Hatter that she believes him and he comes back to life. It made me start to think, “how often do we shut people down because we don’t believe in them?”

I felt like it was very well written and I enjoyed the new characters such as Time. The effects and make up were amazing. I would defiantly recommend seeing it especially if you liked “Alice in Wonderland.”

10 Things to Eat at Disneyland

I love Disneyland, but there is a good chance that I love the food more than anything. Which may seem weird since it is amusement park food. But it is actually very tasty. Below is a list of my 10 favorite foods at Disneyland and where to find them.

  1. Churros- They are sold at little carts through out the Disneyland and California Adventure park. I normally get them right before the castle on the Disneyland side.
  2. Dole Pineapple Whip-Sold at the Tiki Room in Adventureland on the Disneyland side. You can either go in and watch the Tiki Room show or there is a line outside.
  3. Banyan Beef Skewer-Sold at the Bengal Barbeque, also in Adventureland.
  4. French Dip Sandwich- Sold at the French Market in New Orleans Square on the Disneyland side.
  5. Mint Julep- Sold at the Mint Julep Bar, next to French Market on the Disneyland side.
  6. Grilled Cheese-Also known as the Jolly Holiday Combo. It also comes with a side of Tomato Basil soup. Sold at the Jolly Holiday Cafe on Main Street in Disneyland.
  7. Fresh Berry Belgian Waffle- Sold at Ariel’s Grotto on the California Adventure side. You do need dining reservations to eat at Ariel’s Grotto.
  8. Bacon Cheddar Burger- Sold at the Smokejumper’s Grill on the California Adventure side. It is next to Soarin’ Over California.
  9. Turkey Pesto Club-Sold at the Pacific Wharf Cafe on the California Adventure side. It is near Paradise Pier.
  10. Blueberry Muffin-Sold at Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney.

These are my favorite things to have been I go to Disneyland. I would strongly suggest trying a hot chocolate. You can get one anywhere that they sell food.

Questions I Get Asked as a Lash Artist

I spend the majority of my day at work applying eyelash extensions. Which is amazing!!! I love lashing. Hands down it is my favorite thing to do. I get asked a lot of repeat questions and wanted to write a post answering those questions. So in case you forgot to ask your lash artist or they don’t know the answer. Here are answers to commonly asked questions concerning eyelash extensions. If you do have questions I didn’t cover feel free to ask me.

Can I remove these at home?

-Absolutely not. There are other blog posts out there that say if you put coconut oil on eyelash extensions you can remove them. While your extensions may come off using this method, you will lose a good portion of your natural lashes. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen people do this. Not only do you lose a lot of lashes, you also cause a lot of eye irritation. Please don’t remove them at home. Find an artist that will safely remove them for you. Some artists also use this method, so pretty please discuss the removal before hand.

Can I clean my lashes?

-Yes. By all means, please clean your extensions. Just be careful what you clean them with. You need to use an oil-free eye make up remover. Don’t rub your extensions carefully brush over them, apply very little pressure. Always use a clean lint free cloth when cleaning them. I really like the Mary Kay Cleansing Cloths. You can order them here: http://www.marykay.com/

Can I use a lash growth serum?

-I recommend using one to all my clients. I personally use Lilash eyelash serum. I have noticed results with my lashes. I have been able to go longer on length using a growth serum and I feel like I can go longer in between fills. Make sure that you are using a growth serum that doesn’t have oils in it. The oils can cause the glue bonds to break down and you will lose lashes sooner. You can order Lilash here http://www.lilash.com

Can I wear mascara with my lash extensions?

-Although there are a few mascaras that are lash extension safe the best rule of thumb is no. When you have things like mascara sitting on lash extensions you are adding additional weight onto your extensions that your lash artist wasn’t planning on. That weight can cause breakage. Also the products in mascara can cause the glue bonds to deteriate causing you to lose extensions sooner. Mascara is hard to clean off lashes even with out the extensions on. When you add extensions to the eyelash it is even harder to clean them without ripping out natural lashes. My best advice: If you feel the need to wear mascara you are in need of a fill.

Can I get my extensions wet?

-I always advise to wait at least 24 hours before getting them wet. If you can go longer that is better. Depending on the glue your lash artist used, the glue can still be active for up to 24 yours. When you get them wet before the glue is done curing, you can cause irritation and the lashes to move. I personally wait 3 days at the minimum to get mine wet.

Do lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

-As long as they are properly applied there should not be any damage to your natural lashes. If your eyelid starts to become sore about a week after your feel you have multiple natural lashes glued together. Contact your lash artist and ask her to separate them. I have had a lash artist glue mine together and I felt like I had to rip out my natural lashes for relief. Please don’t do that.

I hope you have enjoyed. Please let me know if you have any other questions about lash extensions.

Interesting Dates-Car Accident

I have gotten back into the dating game and have had some fun experiences that I would love to share with you. I think that best would have to be on Memorial Day.

I was going out with a guy in my neighborhood for the first time. We were going to meet some of his friends at a miniature golf place about 15 minutes away. We had just turned out of my street when I seen a black Honda Pilot that looked just like my mom’s that had been in an accident. As we got closer I was looking at the license plate it was my mom’s license plate number. I turned to my date and said “Umm, I think that is my mom. That is her license plate number.” He replied “Do you want to stop?” Of course I said yes. He pulled into a church parking lot and I ran over to my mom (it is Utah there is a church on every corner.) Apparently she had ran a red light and got hit by another car. I ended up spending 45 minutes with her while we waited for the tow truck and the police to finish up. All the while my date sat in his car. I felt super bad but my mom didn’t have anyone else to call.

Once the police said she could go, she volunteered to walk home. She was in so much shock there was no way I was going to let her. So then I told my date that we had to take her home. He agreed and drove my mom to her house. By the time we dropped her off and she was settled, we were 80 minutes late. He said that his friends were still waiting, so we met up with them and everyone was very understanding but it was a really weird night for me and I had a hard time focusing on the date.

Snow Cones-Adult Version

Summer is here and you know what that means!!!! Snow cones are in season. Besides the really nice weather snow cones are my favorite thing about summer. I love the nice cold feeling of snow cone in your mouth on a hot summery day. Nothing can beat it.

My favorite flavor of snow cone is grape. I had some grape Smirnoff leftover from a party and decided that my snow cone would be even better with a little bit of alcohol in it. Well it was. I add some of the grape Smirnoff into my grape snow cone and it was delicous. I would defiantly recommend trying it. ( I would get alcohol that is the same flavor as your snow cone or that pairs best rather than straight alcohol.)

***Please follow your local laws when it comes to alcohol consumption. This post is not meant to entice underage drinking***
